Gravideck MP5
Experience High Fidelity Motion in your PC Simulations
Engineered for Aviation
A motion simulator optimized for flight sensations authenticity
Focused on Pitch, Roll, and Heave Degrees of Freedom
From the beginning, our goal with the MP5 was to deliver the most realistic flight sensations for the best value. That meant concentrating on the three degrees of freedom that matter most during flight : pitch, roll, and heave.
The importance of Heave for a good flight experience
Heave motion is a crucial component in a flight motion simulator, providing vertical cues that enhance realism. When an aircraft pitches up or down, heave simulates the vertical forces generated by the change in trajectory—similar in principle to how a car driver feels lateral forces when turning, but in the vertical direction. Heave also plays a key role in conveying turbulence, making the experience more immersive and dynamic. Additionally, it allows pilots to feel the texture of the runway and assess landing smoothness, offering haptic feedback that visual cues alone cannot provide. With the MP5’s generous 450 mm of heave travel, these sensations are convincingly replicated, delivering a truly lifelike flight experience.
Pitch: the unsung hero of motion simulation
Pitch is a key component in motion simulation, serving not only to represent changes in the aircraft’s attitude and angle of attack, but also as a surrogate for longitudinal accelerations. While a surge axis can reproduce brief forward and backward motions, it cannot sustain them over time without quickly reaching its physical limits. Pitching the cabin, however, allows the simulator to create a continuous gravitational tilt that the brain interprets as steady acceleration or deceleration along the flight path. With a pitch range of +35° to −20°, the MP5 has ample authority to accurately convey all phases of flight, from climbs and descents to level flight and approaches.
Roll: the chef’s kiss… when used correctly.
Some motion simulator manufacturers love to showcase dramatic roll angles during aircraft turns. The problem is that this is physically inaccurate. In reality, during a coordinated turn, the pilot initially senses a small roll as the aircraft banks, but almost immediately, centrifugal (lateral) forces counteract this, effectively “flattening” the sensation. Overemphasizing roll in a simulator can therefore create unrealistic cues. In a properly tuned system like the Gravideck MP5, a ±15° roll range is used sparingly, complementing the forces generated by gravity and inertia rather than dominating them, to faithfully reproduce the subtle sensations of turning in flight.
Unlocking High Fidelity : Pitch & Roll axes above the user's head
Bad motion is worse than no motion at all.
Our choice to place the pitch and roll axes above the user’s head follows the latest research in motion simulation, including several PhD theses published in recent years. This design isn’t a gimmick—it directly corrects a fundamental flaw found in many motion simulators.
(This video explains it well.)
Most consumer rigs rotate around the seat (awkward) or around the user’s chest (clumsy). These geometries distort the onset cues your vestibular system expects and can even produce inverted transient cues.
A classic example occurs during braking: in a real vehicle, your head, back, and torso move away from the seat until restrained by the belt. But with a poorly placed pitch axis, the simulator briefly pushes your head and back into the seat—exactly the opposite of what should happen! Repeated exposure to these incorrect cues greatly increases the risk of motion sickness, and the problem starts with improper pitch and roll axis placement.
The Gravideck MP5 solves this by placing both pitch and roll axes above your head, bringing the center of rotation close to your vestibular system. The result: correct transient cues, clean coordination sensations, and flight dynamics that feel coherent from takeoff to touchdown.
We believe that placing the axes of rotation above the user provides far more meaningful realism than adding extra degrees of freedom that are poorly tuned or improperly implemented.
Flight Simulator 2020 & 2024, X-Plane...
Imagine pushing the throttle and feeling the brakes release with a small jolt through your body, your back pressed into the seat as the plane accelerates.
Feel every bump in the runway, the powerful heave motion when taking off, as the airplane wings and engine can finally offset gravity ! the gentle lean entering a turn, the subtle outward pull of centrifugal force, and the tremor of light turbulence...
Landings are no longer guesses: you feel each wheel touch down, and every brake pushes you into the belts as the runway rushes by. Feel the reward of a buttery smooth landing! (and be slightly shaken by a bad one!)
Motion doesn’t just add information — it makes the game alive.
DCS World
With a Gravideck motion simulator, DCS World becomes dramatically more immersive and physically intuitive. The MP5 amplifies every flight maneuver with coordinated pitch, roll, and heave cues, letting you feel turbulence, G-onset, stall buffet, landings, and aggressive combat maneuvers instead of just seeing them on-screen. This added layer of physical sensation not only boosts realism, but also improves situational awareness, aircraft handling, and training value—bringing DCS much closer to true aircraft behavior for both casual pilots and serious sim enthusiasts.

The Gravideck MP5 is challenging this notion. It’s a simple, compact, quiet yet high fidelity home motion system that gives your body the physical cues your screen or VR headset alone can’t deliver.
Motion cues complement visual and auditive cues to create the ultimate immersive sensory symphony
The Gravideck MP5 is the fruit of several years of research & development and countless prototypes. Its goal: deliver high-fidelity & high-performance motion right out of the box.
No tweaking, no endless settings, no trial and error — just turn it on, and experience motion that feels light years ahead of anything else in its price range.
If you are new to motion simulation, the Gravideck MP5 is for you and we will assist you all along the way.

Bad Motion is far worse than no motion at all
Pitch & Roll Axes Above the User
Our decision to create a motion simulator where the pitch and roll rotation axes are placed above the user's head follows the most recent research in motion simulation, including several PhD theses published in the past few years. This choice isn’t arbitrary: it directly addresses a fundamental flaw that affects most of the motion simulation industry. (This video
explains the issue particularly well.)
Focused on Pitch, Roll, and Heave Degrees of Freedom
From the beginning, our goal with the MP5 was to deliver the best possible motion sensations for the best value. That meant concentrating on the three degrees of freedom that matter most during flight and racing "cruise" phases: pitch, roll, and heave.
We knew it would be pointless to add surge and sway to a compact simulator, because these DOFs require enormous physical travel to feel realistic. With only 500 mm of stroke, you can barely reproduce anything beyond a brief jolt.
Our earlier machine, the Axyom360, used 2 m × 2 m of travel for surge and sway—and even then, the sensations were intense but required a massive footprint. Bringing that scale of motion into a compact form factor simply isn’t feasible, and the MP5 was always intended to be a compact, practical machine.
The same limitation is visible in industrial-grade simulators below: their hexapods cabin cannot generate meaningful surge or sway on their own, so manufacturers must add enormous X and Y linear rails under the hexapod to render those DOFs properly.
These examples clearly illustrate why a compact system should focus on pitch, roll, and heave—the DOFs where it can truly excel.

Large excursions of X, Y and Yaw motion
Advanced motion systems such as used by F1 teams and automotive manufacturers typically use "X-Y rails", large cables or gigantic actuators, to achieve translation motion along the X and Y axis simultaneously.
This machinery is notoriously heavy and expensive.
On the other hand, Gravideck AXYOM360 use state of art omnidirectional motion technology to achieve a comparable effect, at a substantially lower cost.

We can entirely customize the size of the simulator to any dimensions. We can also use curved pushrods to increase the workspace if you need more, and powder coat the simulator to your preferred colors.
Gravideck AXYOM360
A motion simulator specifically designed for racing cars
We believe each type of vehicle needs a specific type of motion simulator. There is no "one size fits all" solution.
As an example, hexapod simulators are good to simulate civilian airplanes, but their performance in simulating racing cars is not acceptable.
The leading motion manufacturers hence came to the conclusion that large X-Y & Yaw motion were crucial for replicating high transient accelerations.
Gravideck's AXYOM360 succeeds in making those large motions available, without the need of heavy machinery.

Gravideck MP5
High Fidelity Motion Simulator
for racing & flight simulations
Most motion simulators compromise realism by placing their pitch & roll rotation axes in the wrong location, usually near the ground under the user. This creates a stream of severely incorrect motion cues during transient pitch & roll maneuvers.
The Gravideck MP5 corrects this with a unique inverted cradle architecture with pitch and roll axes placed just above the user's head. This stays true to how the body perceives transient and sustained accelerations.
Built for both enthusiasts and professionals, the MP5 offers high-fidelity motion in racing & flight simulations .
Combining modular architecture, industrial components, and deep physics insights, it is future-proofed, built to last & ready to deliver a premium motion experience over many years.
